lateralus Posted April 24, 2002 Posted April 24, 2002 Cool site. I have an AMD XP 1800+ not overclocked, an evermax full tower+350w whisper. The Asus utility shows a CPU reading of 55C typically with no load on it. About 60C when playing Madden2002. Anywho, are these temps alarmingly high? 55 at idle? This is with the Volcano6cu (real quiet but 4500rpm max) + an nerve-rackingly loud high rear mount Chasis fan (~2500rpm). The geeks at work are saying something is wrong if I'm nearing 60. I will soon have a Doc5 to give me my temperature readings, I've read that the Asus utility is not as accurate. I do plan to eventually leave my machine running 24/7. The video card is a Gainward GF2ti450, if it might matter. Thanks in advance.
red930 Posted April 24, 2002 Posted April 24, 2002 Yeah this is known with the some of the Ausus boards. 60 high? yes, I consider it very high. I try to stay under 45c tops Go in your bios and set the vcore (cpu) voltage to 1.70 and reboot. That should drop your temps some. If you find your system isn't very stable, bump it to 1.75. Shaggy Posted May 18, 2002 Posted May 18, 2002 Sounds like it might be something wrong with you heatsink. My suggestion, is to call ThermalTake and tell them about your problem. A lot of the times they'll send you a new heatsink, if they feel that the temp. you have is too high.
