fastvfr Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 Okay, this is an easy request: Get a Thermaltake Xaser V case and an Antec 480w Truepower or a 550w model. Then grab a matched set of 512MB Corsair XMS sticks, a decent-sized hard drive and one $30 CD-ROM. Get a floppy drive if you decide on a SATA HDD; wait till later for that if you go IDE. Get yourself a 6800GT or 6600GT vid card and a copy of XP, if you don't already have one. Then a decent SKT 939 mainboard and the fastest CPU you can afford for it are really all you need. See? Easy!! PS. CAPS LOCK SHOULD ALWAYS BE OFF WHILE POSTING IN POLITE COMPANY.
Ste Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 www.google.com www.newegg.com www.tigerdirect.com www.zipzoomfly.com Those 4 sites should be really helpfull. Especially the first one. Some other question to answer are, will you be overclocking and do you like cheese?
hardnrg Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 a good starting point... Goran Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 (edited) Heres a nice build! All links from newegg but I suggest you order through chiefvalue.com its the EXACT same people as newegg! I mean everything is the same but the look and even companies servers are only blocks from each other... Anyway I suggest that because same as newegg but they usually have free shipping for most items! So Its easy to save $30 or more!!!! This build costs just over $1700 on newegg and probably cheaper on chiefvalue.com Here goes only thing missing is OS. Chenming Black Entry level server case with side arcylic window, Model "CMUI-601AEB-W" -RETAIL lite-On CD-Burner NEC DVD burner Samsung 1.44 floppy Seagate 200GB HD Saiteks Gamer Keyboard 1GB Corsair Value ram ViewSonic 19 inch CRT MSI "K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI" NVIDIA nForce4 MOBO Logitech red mouse OCZ ModStream 520W Power Supply AMD SOCKET 939 3000+ Logitech X-530 Speakers x850XT graphics card Thats basically it! You can probably save a bunch o fmoney by just going to some lower stuff like a Nvidia 6600GT graphics card, NON-SLI motherboard, keyboard, and mouse, and less ram, harddrive and stuff! Theres tons of ways to make this system cheaper without losing much quality! iF YOU NEED ANY HELP ASK AWAY! If you save some money you can get windows XP too! Edit: Before I forget please dont write in caps.... Are you yelling at us for a reason? Trust me you dont need caps to get attention! Also you might want to learn something about setting up a computer because being the "N()()B" you are It would be very easy to really mes up everything Edited February 28, 2005 by Goran

CrackHead Posted February 28, 2005 Posted February 28, 2005 I just finished building my first computer for just under $1800 and I used intel, so yours should be a bit cheaper since your going to be runing amd. Case: depends on your preference (max $115) PSU: 480watt-550watt should be fine ($50-$100) Memory: 2x512mb Sticks Crucial (~$150) Motherbaord: ASUS "A8V-E Deluxe"($169 at newegg) Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3500+ ($281 at newegg) Optical Drive: Lite-On CDRW/DVD Drive ($40 at newegg) Floppy: NEC 1.44MB ($8) Harddrive: Western Digital Raptor 74GB ($180 at newegg) Video Card: ATI Radeon X700pro For $1700 you can build one of the badest top of the line computers out there honestly, so it is deffinatly the way to go over company bought any day. Those are my recemendations on the main componets to put in your computer.
