To monitor your points:

Stanford

ExtremeOverclocking.com

Or install Electron Microscope (awesome free monitoring tool!)

Yes, you can shut down the client and restart it. Make sure you shut down cleanly though or it could start over at the beginning.

Time Machine - I personally have it installed on my P4 to run as a service, that way I don't have to be logged in for it to start up. You can have the ver 5.02 installer do that for you. However, if you want to run two instances, it is better to tak e afew minutes and set it up manually IMO.

Killing the process in the task manager is somewhat iffy - it may force it to restart at the beginning. If you do use the task manager, kill the core (fah_65core, fah_78core...) and then the client.

If you use a shortcut, just open that window and hit Ctl+C. Someone else may have more experience with the background version.

Either way, I would suggest running it with the -forceasm flag to prevent optimized code from being turned off by the client if stop/restart it.

TimeMachine - check -forceasm and leave the rest unchecked.
