Anyone Use Tyan Mobos?

Recommended Posts

Looking at building a good game server for ya'll to play on...

Don't have the money to blow on a really nice system, but can build a decent one for arround $450.... Though, these prices include the use of a Tyan motherboard. Does anyone use them?

Option 1

Tyan S2460 Motherboard

Dual Athlon MP 1GHz

200/266 FSB - Allows for up to 3G DDR...

Option 2

Tyan S2507T Motherboard

Dual Intel PIII 1GHz

Allows for 1.5G PC133 or 2G PC100

With both the CPUs and Mobo it cost about $30 more to get the MP than the P3... So I'm leaning toward the MPs... though I've never used/seen a Tyan mobo, so don't know how well it preforms.

This will be used to host HL, 1942, UT2, D3, WC3, SC2, and whatever other games we want to play... (as well as host my own LanParties. :P)

Ya.. this is what I'm building instead of putting together my own personal computer. :P

I would go with option one also. Tyan motherboards are pretty good from what i know especially for this type of applications. I heard that Epox may have a dual AMD solution also. I don't have a link for you know but see what you can find. Sounds interesting.
