Guest_Jim_* Posted January 18, 2019 Posted January 18, 2019 This is good news for anyone using a Linux distribution and an AMD GPU as it was discovered the new 4.20 kernel allows for increasing the TDP limit with the AMDGPU driver. It does require OverDrive be enabled, which already allows for tweaking of core clocks, memory clocks, and voltages, but it can now be used to increase the normal TDP limit. It is capped by the TDPODLimit value in the graphics card's BIOS, but as raising the power limit can improve performance and/or stability under some circumstances, this is something that should make a number of Linux users happy.
