AT&T Fiber Internet is already bringing gigabit speeds to 29 metro areas around the country including Atlanta, Austin, and Orlando. The company has added 11 more cities to the list that will be getting the service soon, bringing that number to 38. These new areas are concentrated in the Southeastern United States and a single location in Texas. AT&T made no indication of when these areas can expect the service to be completed, but plans to be fully rolled out to 45 cities by the end of the year. AT&T needs to offer fiber Internet to at least 12.5 million customers by mid-2019, a condition of its purchase of DirecTV. The monthly cost for the service is $70 in areas where AT&T faces competition from Google Fiber and $90 where it does not.
