AllYourF0rt Posted April 13, 2016 Posted April 13, 2016 (edited) Hi everyone. So I recently built a new computer system. My case is the Fractal Design R5. It comes with 2x140mm fans. One in the front for intake and one in the back from outtake. I need to know the ratio of intake to outtake to maintain negative pressure. I can add one more 140mm in the front and one more 140mm on the side(it won't be filtered though). I also have Moduvent on the top which allows 3x140mm on the top. For negative pressure I want 1 intake for every 2 exhaust? Edited April 13, 2016 by AllYourF0rt
sword_fish Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 technically, negative pressure in any given room can be generated and maintained by having the air inside pulled out with an exhaust ventilation system, no forced air intake. i preferred a balanced intake and exhaust ventilation system though, it's just me. AllYourF0rt Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 So if I add one more 140mm intake on the front and two 140mm exhaust on the top it would be good? I would have two intake and three exhaust not including the PSU.
sword_fish Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 that would be fine. are you having heat issues btw? i have these 1 x 140mm, 1 x 120mm both at front intake, 1 x 120mm rear exhaust + 3 120mm top exhaust; my rig seems happy with it. AllYourF0rt Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 I'm not currently having heat issues. Once I add another 980 ti for sli I'm sure I will need more cooling.
sword_fish Posted April 15, 2016 Posted April 15, 2016 nice! just have a good airflow inside that case and it should be alright. your ambient temp may vary though. but i'm absolutely sure you have a lot better ambient that mine, we're hitting the 40's here now how i hate our summer.
