CheeseMan42 Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 General PC shipments were down 10.6% during the fourth quarter of last year, for a total of 71.9 million units, according to IDC. Despite the down quarter, there was some good news for high-end gaming PCs and all-in-one systems as they are the two fastest growing market segments. Gaming PCs benefit from a number of factors that aren't shared by the mainstream PC market. Gaming PCs don't face the same challenge from smartphones and tablets and are purchased by consumers that "aren't price-sensitive, and are willing to spend to get the latest and greatest technologies." Major manufacturers such as Dell and Lenovo are making strides to release systems targeted at gamers in hopes of profiting from the gaming PC segment which IDC estimates is growing at 26% per year.
