rieds Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 (edited) i've been looking at members overclocking settings and i'm wondering why most people with unlocked multipliers choose to overclock that way as apposed to raising fsb? i'll be getting a intel rig a year or so down the road and notice the 3820 is not unlocked vs the 2700k or the 3770k. will there be more 2011 cpu's coming? also will i be able to adapt my antec kuhler 920 to a 2011 board. that might be a deciding factor in my choice . will we see more 2011 board choices and lower priced? sorry lots of questions here. just trying to sort it all out. Waco Posted April 30, 2012 Posted April 30, 2012 The way the base clock is tied into everything you can only raise it small amounts before things go wonky. The base clock straps are supposed to help but I don't think many people have much luck with them.
