bp9801 Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 New Kickstarter update details that Wasteland 1 will be released separately ahead of Wasteland 2's release. It'll be free to all backers, while anyone who missed out can purchase it on GOG or Steam. Oh, and Wasteland 2 is going to be shown off at Gamescom in three days. It's just for the press there, but inXile is going to release a video for all backers to see. What level is going to be seen? Well... The Prison. In the original Wasteland, the prison was home to the Desert Rangers and was called Ranger Center. When the Rangers conquered the citadel, they moved in. The prison was now open, which allowed the Red Scorpion Militia a chance to call it home. The RSM are not too fond of the Rangers, for reasons that you
ClayMeow Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 I hope that means we can choose to get a Steam key for Wasteland 1! The wording is a little vague on that.
bp9801 Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 Agreed. Not sure if the free copy is only through EA or if backers can choose the service to get it from.
bp9801 Posted August 28, 2013 Posted August 28, 2013 InXile has posted a 20 minute walkthrough of the Prison area from the Gamescom demo. We know there are a few hitches in the video, unfortunately we weren't going to be able to get rid of them without delaying the video, so we prioritized getting this video to you. The Prison is the 4th or 5th area in the game depending on how you approach it. Wasteland 2 is an open game so potentially, you could travel straight to it if you want a real challenge... but it probably won

bp9801 Posted February 21, 2014 Posted February 21, 2014 Newest update with the following tidbit of info: As we've said before we wanted to use the beta period to evaluate our release window. To outline our current plan: we will have the team working to lock down every aspect of the game within three months such that we are only addressing bugs. On the systems side of the game, over those three months you will see a number of iteration passes on combat which covers things like crouched stance, ambush mechanics, weapon jamming, special attacks, further UI enhancements, and a few surprises. On the skills we need to make several more passes on making them more useful or better message how they are working. We are adding AI to the remaining enemy types and adding the appropriate animations. Art wise we are wrapping up the LA maps and adding additional combat animations and particle effects to give the game more flavor. And most importantly we are continuing our iteration passes on choice and consequence, providing new options that come from the results of your actions. We know better than to give an exact date at this point because in addition to pushing the game in the ways we
bp9801 Posted May 10, 2014 Posted May 10, 2014 Release date announcement will be made sometime during this month, so hopefully we don't have too much longer to go before the final product is out. Working on finishing up the writing, tweaking it and the like to get it ready. The beta just received a fairly hefty update, too, if anyone here has it. bp9801 Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Been a long while, but the Director's Cut is scheduled to arrive on October 13 for all current owners of Wasteland 2 on PC for free. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One gamers can pick it up then, too, for a price, with people outside North America getting it on October 16. The Director's Cut benefits from a move to Unity 5 for better visuals, redone environments, new lighting, and improved character models, among others. It also has new characteristics and gameplay-changing personality traits called Quirks to really change up your squad at character creation; new Perks to give different bonuses to your squad when you move up every three levels, with some requiring different Skills to unlock; and Precision Strikes, which lets you target specific body parts to do some major damage. Consoles get a reworked control scheme to better fit their capabilities. There are also things like redone voice overs for NPCs and companions, combat rebalances for "virtually every" fight we can be involved in, and tweaks and modifications to loot and items you can find in the world.
