Ronsanut Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 (edited) I have an H70 and did replace the stock CORSAIR fans (way too loud) with Noctua NF-P12 1300 fans and they seem to work well on my i7-970 system. But I recently added an ASUS GTX-590 and someone recommended a Silverstone AP 121 AIR Penetrator to blow directly on the GTX 590 and it does a great job of keeping it a few degrees cooler in my case. I am thinking of using two of these on an ANTEC 920 radiator to cool a new i7-990X processor. I think I may swap it out and into my 600T case. What do you think ? AP 121 better for my Radiator than the NF-P12's ? What do you guys recommend ? I want the best of both worlds a balance between quiet and cooling. I plan to Overclock the 990 to at least 4.4. LuckyDeath Posted August 30, 2011 Posted August 30, 2011 The Antec 920 fans might be proprietary, but that's just my guess. They plug into the splitter on the cooling block, and its possible other fans can do this but I haven't tried any. If they aren't compatible, you 1) Can't use the software to change the fan profiles 2) You might get some sort of error from the device because it will think no fans are attached. The key to radiator fans is not the actual amount of air so much as a static pressure to make sure the air can force it's way through. I did a little research but thought more about it from what I saw it do when focusing on my video card. It stays nice and cool . But there has to be many others who have replaced the fans on their coolers. Thanks. The 920 is supposed to arrive tomorrow. I will have to see about the connections.... and decide what fans to use.
