PC Just stuck at POST

Not sure what this means. On your mobo may be a jumper with label of CMOS (may need to look at manual). Move the jumper to "other" two pins for some seconds and then move back.

 

If jumper does not work or no jumper exists (or you can't find the jumper) use the CMOS battery removal method. Be sure to have the computer unplugged before touching anything inside. After unplugging, some people push the ON switch to drain residual power before removing the battery.

 

It could still be a cable or some other problem.

 

yep good call....you can see the blue clr cmos jumper on the board over by the blue sata out connectors in the picture...

I was tempted to reply at your first post but then you seemed to get the issue resolved. Now that you are having trouble again,, my suggestion would be to look at your RAM. Time and time again i have mirrored your computer symptons only to get them resolved with fresh ram. Im not saying here thats what the problem is,, just that you might look in that direction. Thanks for the suggestions to clear the CMOS guys but I've already done it and I said that a few posts back I'm going to try a memtest like Kwok said, but I don't quite know where to find the utility.

The error scan in HD Tune will give you and idea of HD problems. Don't use the "quick" option. I use HDTune before chkdsk for obvious reasons if you have used chkdsk it can be a session.

So things have really hit the fan and now I'm running the HD Tune utility. It's shown up 1 error so far.

 

Just for a quick summary, the problems I'm having (that have reoccured after reinstalling the OS), are:

 

Skype will not connect calls. Upon answering/the other participant answering a call, Skype will hang, and the only way to stop it is to end the process.

Same problem with MSN. Will hang, only way to stop it is to stop the process.

If I close steam on startup, it will not start up again.

Games hang at the main menu, seemingly randomly.

Of course, the seemingly random hangs at the POST screen.

 

There are more but I can't remember them. Do they sound like HDD, processor, memory or motherboard issues to you?
