I'd say that there are better coolers out there than this. Depends on your budget though... You could try looking at Noctua Coolers which seem to be number 1 right now. I've got a Sunbeam Core Contact Freezer 4 which I'm very happy with, and it wasn't expensive at all for the quality. Cooler Master has certain good coolers. And there's of course the famous Prolimatech Megahalems which is one badass cooler. And not very expensive too, but quite big so make sure it fits IF you even decide to get it.

i just bought the zalman performa, im unable to test it as im waiting on my motherboard :( it will be cooling the i7 920

the base on the performa seems to have me lapped a bit, finish is about a 400 grit, so its not bad. i have the core contact as well, and though where i order my parts i couldnt see it, silienX makes a heat sink thats very close, only diff is its plated, top looks nicer and option for 2 fans.

i almost bought the silienX version of the core contact, however the mounting system is wasnt comfortable with.

there were heat sinks that i rather have picked because it looked like it would do better, but in the end what truly sold me was the mounting system, i wanted a firm back plated heatink, i was looking at the coolermaster 212+ because it does well, however how the heatsink mounts its prone to twisting.

also before i ordered, the zalman is one of the top coolers of this first quarter of 2010, reviews on it are great
