zencius Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 Is it worth buying coolermaster hyper 101,because i need to overclock my computer 1,8Ghz to 2,1Ghz,and my cpu needs some cooling too....
GabrielT Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 That kind of overclock shouldn't make a lot of heat. Could you tell us more exact specs so we could help you? You wont see a huge gain at that kind of change but there will be some benefit. I am assuming it is an AMD opteron or AMD product because of the cooler you chose. GabrielT Posted June 8, 2010 Posted June 8, 2010 300mhz may be doable with no voltage increase and very little extra heat. The older athlons aren't known for overclocking but 300mhs on that low of a bas clock should be doable. Try to push up the FSB is small increments until you reach your target while testing for stability. Watch your ram speed too, it will go up little by little with the fsb and may become unstable. CPUZ, OCCT, and Prime95 are your friends. I suggest overclocking in BIOS not with amd overdrive or a software overclocking in general. Also be sure to download a suitible temp monitor like Realtemp. As long as you keep it under say 70c under full load you should be good with the stock cooler.
