Wireless problem (probably easy answer)

Well in CoD4 online (PC), i often suddenly get connection interupted and my ping goes to 999. Sometimes though i dont feel like im lagging or anything and only in the killcam i see that my guy froze for a sec and got killed. Could this be because of my adaptor (Belkin wireless G USB) or is this a problem with the BT homehub.

 

Would a faster adaptor (N etc) make a difference?

And are gaming adaptors actually better for games?

Is it at all possible to wire out a CAT5 to your PC? This by far is the better option over wireless. If not, maybe a router with some kind of directional antenna.

Thanks for the reply however i dont know much at all when it comes to networking, so whats a cat5.

Also i used wireless because this pc is on a different floor so really wired isnt an option.
