partial post problem with HP computer

Recommended Posts

Whats up fellas I need your all's help on this one. Ive got this older (2006) HP desktop model number Pavilion a1329x that i'm tryin to get up and running its a 775 P4 DDR2 OEM machine. when I got it it woudn't post at all it would only list the processor and thats it. Now it posts the processor and memory and the optical and hard drivers etc but it gets to to where it says Device #01 and thats as far as it'll go. even if you hit delete it go into the bios it says Entering setup but it never goes into the setup and I cant figure it out. I just replaced the mobo today I bought a new one an ASUS P5QPL-AM from micro center but its still messing up. I"ve tried 3 diff memory sticks hoping that would solve the issue but still the same thing. I've alway switched out the power supply and that didn't do anything either. The weird thing too is that when u hit the power button it takes like 8-10 sconds before the cpu fan speeds up and u get a display on the screen. i've never seen anything like this ever and I cant figure it out. surely if the CPU was bad it woudln't even post anything???? but idk what else it could be. I'm really stumped on this one. I'm tryin to get it running for my lil cousin to have a facebook/youtube computer but its being a real pain in the arse if u know what I mean so i'm open to anything you guys suggest. Let me know what you think and i'll give it a shot. I appreciate you all taking time to read this and hopefully u can help me figure out whats up with this thing. Thanks alot, Matt
