sack_patrol Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 (edited) Alrighty. Back on the job to oc this CPU higher. Parts: Mobo: DFI m3h5 CPU: Phenom II 550 @ 3.1Ghz RAM: Crucial Ballistix Tracer 2x1GB 9-9-9-24 Current overclock: Only cpu multi, cpu voltage and ram clocks have been modified so I'm not going in detail for now. I am currently in the bios, and writing the post from the laptop, so I am now going to up some stuff. Everything you see and isn't on stock has been modified so no need to explain exactly which things I've changed as you will see them. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------> MCT Memory Timing >>>>>>>>> Press Enter to set timings fully with F-9 ODC Control Mode >>>>>>>>> No Adjusting Done to Date DCTs Mode >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Ganged CKE base power down mode >> Disabled CKE base power down >>>>>>> Per Channel Pressed Enter for MCT Memory Timing MCT Memory Timing >>>>>>>>>> Manual 2T Mode >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Disabled though doesn't matter, it goes to 2T because if ganged mode. If it is I will go ahead with linx n what not. I await everyones advice and help. Edited November 6, 2009 by ballist1x
sack_patrol Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 (edited) UPDATE1: OCCT 15min - PASS LinX 20 times; 43mins 30secs - PASS TEMP - FAN:2000rpm > 35max temp under load I will now continue with the next test which is the "every day usage test". Gonna play some CSS, L4D2 gonna check mail...listen to some music etc. Prime95 test will probably be after I get bored of every day usage test. lol. I do think that this time I got ti right. I'm still open to suggestions and comments. Edited November 6, 2009 by ballist1x
sack_patrol Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 (edited) UPDATE2: Everything seems to be running great...temp is nice on 1400rpm. Played some games..on problems in sight. No abnormalities, crashes, errors or anything else in between. Now it's time to move on to the GPU...although I don't feel like the boring bios flash. <_< It's probably gonna be a waste of time...and gpu life span anyway. EDIT: GPU is unoverclockable. If I try overclocking with even lower clocks than the ones now it's gonna be useless so I'll just leave it as it is. sack_patrol Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 (edited) UPDATE3: Finished with Prime95 for now....I feel like doing something else on the pc now, but I can safely say that it's stable. All the tests have gone as smooth as can be. Here is my final settings: Everything in the bios is as it is in the first post. I'll take a break and later I might try again for 4.0Ghz. Chances are it won't work but I'll do it for the lulz. Edited November 7, 2009 by ballist1x
OCFreak Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Question on your memory ... why if it is 9-9-9-24 are you trying to run it at 7-7-7-24?
sack_patrol Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I shall explain: The original clocks are 7-7-7-24 for this model, but crucial made some kind of fail safe device that runs them on 9-9-9-24 by default, and if your pc is good enough, you can manually change it to the real stock clocks or "high profile" I think it was called. I did however have to up the voltage slightly so that could assure that it would have enough to run smoothly.
