cjloki Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 well first off i'm not a 780i guy so i could be way off here, but i see several things that don't look ok to me at all.... the best thing you can do for yourself is read this before you start to overclock otherwise you're just flying by the seat of your pants http://forums.overclockersclub.com/index.php?showtopic=71656 first of all turn off/disable eist secondly i don't have a q9550 but if it's at all like my qx9770 then the vcore should be approximately 1.3625 to start with nb bridge voltage at or near 1.45-1.50 sb voltage at 1.50 your ram would be much happier at 1:1 ratio instead of 1066mhz so set it back down in your bios to 800mhz 8.5x400fsb=3400mghz=3.4ghz so if you still can't get a boot to windows then increase the vcore by 1 increment and try again and if i remember right the q9550 has 1333 fsb so it probably isn't gonna overclock real high without alot of heat/vcore so make sure you have a good cooling setup before you push it download "real temp" for free (google) and install it so you can monitor temps as you go... you'll also need a little program called cpu-z... overclocking takes time and patience so don't rush because if you're the impatient type you'll end up with dead equipment. it also pays to get familiar with your equipment before you try to stress it to much http://processorfinder.intel.com/details.aspx?sSpec=SLAWQ and now i hope that some other overclocker in the community who is more familiar with your 780i sli mobo will come in and tighten up the rest good luck with that ...!! and welcome to OCC cya cj

cjloki Posted October 9, 2009 Posted October 9, 2009 thanks for the help. I can get a 3.20 Ghz. I have to learn more about this MB that is a really good idea...!!...keep trying but read the overclocking guide thoroughly and there are probably some good youtube vids on ocing your chipset
