korymiller Posted September 21, 2009 Posted September 21, 2009 (edited) Hello all, I am kinda new to Overclocking and wanted to get advice on how far to go with this build I recently put together... MB: MSI G31TM-P21 CPU: Core 2 Duo E7500 (Stock speed is 266 x 11 = 2.93 GHz) RAM: Corsair 4GB (2x2GB) DDR2-800 Mhz GPU: Nvidia GeForce 8600 GT PSU: 400W OS: Windows 7 Professional 64-Bit I would like to keep using stock heatsink.... I bumped it up to 291 x 11 = 3.2 GHz and it seemed to run fine... I am running it outside a case right now cause the one I ordered doesnt show up until Thursday. I dont know if that helps or hurts temp but I was running right at 30 C with that first overclock. I am new to all this and wanted to get some opinions as to what I should do for this budget build... Thanks!!! Edited September 21, 2009 by korymiller

Thanks!!! if you want to oc further then i think you should get another heat sink or at least when you get the case , make sure that there is a decent air flow , the temps you got outside maybe will be different when you get the whole thing inside .............but good overclock on the stock heat sink ........... edit : where are my manners , ehm ehm WELCOME TO OCC ......................... nns Posted September 24, 2009 Posted September 24, 2009 Welcome to OCC!! Did you run stress tests?? If you did 30 C is more than decent for a stock HSF..!! Though I recommend you don't OC much on stock HSF but you are good as long as the temps on after 1hr stress testing stay below 55-60 C Always keep an eye on the temps.. esp sice you are using the Intel HSF
