Best Performance, but with some security?

I'm planning on running 2 WD 500GB HDD. I've considered doing RAID 0, but a little hesitant on losing data. Right now, I'm thinking of not running any raid, just split the hard drives like this:

----500GBHarddrive

-200GB O/S Programs

-300GB DATA

----500GBHarddrive

-250GB DATA

-250GB DATA

-Note: I am also an avid gamer and like to have fast load up times. Where would I place my games and such? Another thing is I'll be having a lot of media on it so where would you consider putting that also? Any input would be greatly recognized. Thanks. ^_^

Get another and run...RAID5 i think...

Youll still have 1tb to play with, in addition to having your data striped for fast load times, in addition to having data redundancy if one drive fails...cant lose.

With running no raid, you are in no better a position as you still dont have data redundancy...

I've been building servers all month

:EDIT:

The only problem you could have, is getting a HARDWARE raid card as if your playing games you probably dont want the RAID side of things taking up any cpu time...then again, the majority of the HDD Access is done while you have a "Loading" screen...

I'd go with a hardware RAID Card myself though...Their only around the $120 mark now anyways (AUD) for 3 or 4 sata ports...
