a93j202k Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Are HDT coolers better than conventional CPU coolers? The xigmatek S1283 seems like a very capable cooler. Does anyone out there own one? It seems heavy for a CPU cooler, does the cooler come with a backplate, or will you have to buy it separately? Trying to overclock on air later in the future; I'm going to need a good cooler to handle the higher vcore's.
SpeedEuphoria Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 (edited) Best bang for the buck cooler. It does not come with a backplate though, you can buy the 17751 separate for like $8 shipped and seems people get 2C drop in temp from it with the extra peace of mind. It will OC dual cores easily, a Q6600 may be getting hot but will with any cooler. Its got a lower CFM fan(although quiet) so that can be upgraded if needed to 2x better fans Edited January 17, 2009 by SpeedEuphoria
cchalogamer Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Not heavy at all compared to others and can keep my Q6600 cool no problem. For the money I couldn't find a better deal and haven't bothered to get the brackets for the three I own, though they would be helpful.
