Lock113 Posted December 17, 2008 Posted December 17, 2008 Just got an E8400, Asus P5Q MB, Coolmaster X-Dream 775 fan, Crucial PC 6400 memory, Nividia GeForce 8400, used AI Tweaker changed to manual increased the FSB to 400 and bingo 3.6. Stressed test with Prime95, ran with no errors. Core temp ran 28-20C, case ran 31-33C. Now I have been reading and the more I read the more confusing it gets. Would like some straight talk at how to proceed to get to 3.9 or 4GHz. Just got 4GB Corsair Dominator PC8500, will add as soon as I can get some advice from those who know. Any suggestions? jackbrennan2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 I can run my E8400 at up to 4.7ghz (see sig) but for normal use it runs fine @ 4ghz with 1.38vcore. Some say its too high but who keeps a CPU longer than 2 years anyway ?? for 4ghz try this FSB = 444 (445) Vcore =1.40 (for starters you can bump it down after you boot) Give a small bump to the FSB voltage, and you should be good to go. See how that works out for you. I actually made a E8400 overclocking guide but im at work so ill upload it again tonight. Hope that helps! Timmy94 Posted December 18, 2008 Posted December 18, 2008 Mines at 3.8 with a vcore of 1.33625, is that good for that speed and what would you say the max safe vcore is for the 8400's. Cause i want to get this baby above and beyond 4Ghz
jackbrennan2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Posted December 19, 2008 Well i had my vcore at 1.75 lol for 4.7ghz, which is of course way too high, i think the safe zone for a E8400 where you will not be putting extra wear and tear on the cpu is about 1.35vcore from memory.
