bg8780 Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 Heres my current setup. QX6850 400x9=3600mhz 1:1 FSB to RAM ratio 1600mhz FSB 800mhz mushkin ddr2 4-4-3-10 <stock timings Heres my idea but im not sure if i would notice a difference at all 450x8=3600 (im happy with 3.6ghz) FSB 1800mhz RAM will be at 900mhz Thus, keeping my 1:1 Ratio but pushing my RAM a little bit faster. This is essentially just a ram OC but do you guys think it would be worth putting the stress on the RAM for the amount of impact it would make on performance? Also, any advice towards the timings? Those are already pretty damn good stock timings so im not sure if i should touch them. Thanks so much guys!
Waco Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 The higher FSB and RAM speeds will help a bit in SMP and memory-intensive apps assuming your board is stable at those speeds.
bg8780 Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 ok thanks, ill probably just leave it at 800mhz
Waco Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 If you can do it and it's stable there's no real drawback...you won't ever see worse performance because of it.
