malmsteenisgod Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 I'm using the intel DX38BT which supports DDR3 1333 with 2gb's of OCZ DDR3 1333 and was wondering if it would be safe to try to bump my Q6600 to 400 fsb (I'll probably do 400 x 8) and raise my ram up to 1600 mhz. Is this a safe thing to do or should I not go past my motherboard and my ram's fsb rating? My OCZ ram does allow up to I think 1.95v from stock 1.8 for overclockers, so I assume it is ok, but I just thought I'd check first. Zertz Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 (edited) The only risk remaining with overclocking now is setting the voltage too high for too long. 400 FSB may be achievable on stock voltage, doesn't hurt to try! Of course, everything isn't fool-proof and things can go wrong, but usually, at worst, the board won't post and you will have to reset the CMOS (instructions on that can be found in your motherboard's manual) Take a look here if you're not too sure where to begin Edited September 14, 2008 by Zertz
