Recommended Posts

i recently purchased ek waterblocks for my striker II formula board and when i installed them i found the the location of the fittings on the southbridge block conflicted with the video card.

has anyone else had this problem or know of a fix ? or a different block i could use ?

The extreme is a different chipset than the Formula

780i vs 790I I think there are some enterprising folk out there who have made a block with offset fittings that clear the VC. I cant remember where I saw it but I know it was interesting enough for me to remember it.

oh yeah you have that other chip up the side...

is it because of the barb locations? MIPS, the other major motherboard block manufacturer do a S2F block: MCH1039

some dude says EK sent him a new (revised?) EK S2F SB block: http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/t293929.html

the only other one I've seen is the AF one: http://forum.overclock3d.net/showthread.php?t=22782

yes its the barb location one of the barbs is right where the card seats but I just realized that EK sent me a different top I had initially thought it was just an extra but after looking at it more closely I see that the barb locations are lower on the block so I'll try it again this weekend possibly with the other top

BTW what is the other chip on the side for ?

if you only have one chip under the NB sink/block, then it's the PCI-E bridge chip (NF200?) that allows Tri-SLI for 780i... basically 780i is 680i + the bridge chip...

sounds like EK sent you the revised top then! good stuff :)

ahh ha i see its just a stupid little chip that gave this board a $150 higher price tag not a whole new chipset lol

yeah it looks like it but i can't install it till i get a block for my new gtx 260 as the heat sink/fan is massive
