Louie57703 Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 Afer countless attempts to get my bios to unlock so i could OC i got it (had to get a bios update from the people that made my board and they had to mail it). I've OC my cpu form 2.6ghz to 2.8ghz, but i don't notice ANY difference... i even ran that benchamrk thingy just to see how your PC compares to a "normal" PC and my results were the same.... CPU marks didn't even change... they were still the same so i'm lost here... is it only the numbers that changed and not really the CPU, or does 200mhz not really do much extra in high end PC's like they used to in low end PC's. d3bruts1d Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 This is why most people Overclock using the FSB rather than the multiplier. System Bus matters more than CPU speed. Lower the multiplier and raise the FSB to get better system performance when OCing.
ravix Posted December 15, 2003 Posted December 15, 2003 Also, some BIOS's will show a change, but are in fact not doing anything (via, for instance). It makes me suspicous that your getting the exact same scores with an extra 200mhz on an arithmitic test.
