MJ0588 Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 that processor CAN be overclocked, whats gonna determine if you can really oc or not is your mobo, your 2600 has a t-bred core, and still should give you a decent overclock, if the rest of your system permits
ravix Posted December 11, 2003 Posted December 11, 2003 Yeah, nearly any chip can be overclocked. The best thing you can do is do is try it out and see how far you can push it. That is part of the fun of overclocking.
clay31 Posted December 12, 2003 Posted December 12, 2003 (edited) thanks for the replys. i got a few more questions tho all i really want to do is up my fsb as my processor is at 2 ghz so im happy with that,if im correct when upping the fsb i dont need to mess with the voltage right? and if im not messing with the voltage i wont need a better cooling solution? thanks and my full system specs are as follows: amd athlon xp 2600(266 fsb) dfi lan party n force 2 ultra (old version not the newer model B ) 512 mb ddr corsair xms memory readeon 9800 pr0 128 Edited December 12, 2003 by clay31
sandman1485 Posted December 12, 2003 Posted December 12, 2003 What speed is your DDR? And your default mult*fsb is 14*133? If that is the case, all you have to do is up your FSB by 10. That shouldn't require any additional voltage.
clay31 Posted December 12, 2003 Posted December 12, 2003 im not quite shure what my multiplier is by default but as long as i dont have to touch the voltage requireing me to up my cooling ill be happy thanks for your info
