Can you do a Tri SLi with a 7950GX2 and a 7950GT

Three 7950GX2's, huh? That's pretty friggin' insane, that's six GPUs running simultaneously, while it would be possible to physically run all three with the newer boards that have three PCI-E x16 slots, you wouldn't be able to do anything with it. One, I would imagine that such a system would require a sh*tload of power to run efficiently and heat would definitely pay an enormous role. Two, nVidia hasn't released proper support for Tri-SLI despite them pushing for it, more or less. Three, all three (six) GPUs running in tandem would most likely cause more bad than good, lag, bottleneck, or maybe even two of the cards would be left idle.

 

A 7950GT would be a lot more feasible, but, there's still the lack of proper driver support, not to mention the proper chipset.

IMHO tri-SLI is impossible with those cards; especially since the 7950GT only has one SLI connector, for tri-SLI each card would have to be linked to the other 2 with separate bridges (that's why the 8800 GTX/Ultras have 2 SLI connectors per card).

While that is true, you'd have to recall a form of SLI that never took off soon after Aegia released their PhysX cards, a 2+1 setup. With one being dedicated to physics all the time, that is what I meant by it being more feasible with the 7950GT.

 

With that said, the 7950GX2 would follow such a similar trait, albeit it would be more like 4+2. :rolleyes:
