Please help me decide.

I am looking for (2) 1GB sticks of ddr1 pc4000 memory. There is not much out there, so which one should i get?

 

this first one is kingston, i know you guys don't reccomend it, but i was wondering why? This particular kit gets good reviews all over

mushkin redline (i am concerned about the height of the spreader as i have a zalman 9500 and a k8n neo4 board so i don't want the fan to hit

so i found these three, which all have reported problems which is why i assume they are the 3 i found available. If someone can tell me which one is the best and if they all suck, where can i find something else? thanks

I ran a 2x1G kit of Ballistix at 275 DDR at 1T, so I'd say it's decent stuff. Redlines as well are great memory. I haven't used a kit of Kinston HyperX, so I can't say from experience how it performs. I think they are a fairly decent clocker as well, but I'd look at Mad Shrimps or Anandtech to see if they've reviewed it. Both of those sites are on my A list for accurate reviews.

OK, an update, the IC's on Kingston HyperX are Infineon BE-5, which aren't the best overclockers in the world.

Get the Redlines...they are the cheapest of the bunch and equal to, if not better than the others. I am personally running 2GB of Kingston Value Ram because the price was right, its stable, and its running fat dumb and happy at DDR450.

Depending on what gear you have currently, its almost cheaper to pick up an AM2 board+processor+2GB of ram than some of these 2GB DDR500 kits....I would seriously look for some used sticks.

well i understand they might not be the best overclockers, so that is why i am getting pc4000. Then I can set my "fsb" to 250mhz and the ram will still be running the memory at spec. but anyway if you think the crucial is good i would rather have that anyway. it is smaller than the redline and cheaper than the kingston.

I have read all the reviews and from what i can tell the kingston is ho-hum, the mushkin is really good but has compatibility issues and can cause problems (especially if you don't set the timings exactly right) and the crucial is freakin awesome and can run CL2.5 2:2:8 @ 240 which is nice. Also, it has those spiffy lights on it and will look sweet in my case. In case you were wondering why I have a 600W PSU for a single CPU single GPU set up is the ridiculous amount of lights and fans in my system. It lights up the room and sounds like a jet but i love it

Another thing about Crucial, two actually. First off, they are a division of Micron, so they always have a steady supply of good IC's. Second, their tech support and RMA people are awesome to work with.
