Technohydra Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 What's the story on the Infinity for a good 775 board. Thinking of selling the AMD core system and going with Intel, so...and any other recommendations would be appreciated as well. momoceio Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I love my Gigabyte DQ6...also the Abit QuadGT is an awesome board. If you want a 975 chipset you might also check out the Intel Badaxe board.
Technohydra Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 I'd like a 680i, personally, but I was trying to keep the DFI faith, hehe. How have you been able to OC with those boards, if at all?
Praz Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 The QuadGT is a fast board and so far seems to overclock well. I put up an OCDB entry last night with this board. http://www.diy-street.com/forum/showpost.p...55&postcount=
Kingfisher Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Asus P5B series are excellent choices as well. They all use the P965 express chipset. Other chipsets/SLI offerings from Asus

Stock memory timing, stock FSB voltages, stock MCH voltages. My FSB is at 400mhz.
Technohydra Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Great OC Praz! Gotta say, the idea of selling the venus and using a C2D is getting more and more appealing the more I look.

Praz Posted March 6, 2007 Posted March 6, 2007 Like any other board, the GT does have a couple of hurdles that needs to be dealt with. At this point in time the BIOS is still kinda rough.. The best option today is the 06 beta Bios. But before it can be flashed there are a couple of settings that need to be configured in the original BIOS. There are no secondary timings available in any current BIOS. This isn't an issue until the board is pushed really hard. tRRD and tRTP are fixed at 5 and 7 respectively. Once memory speed gets above 1150MHz these values are too tight. There are some work-arounds for this though. Hopefully these settings will be available in a future BIOS release.
