uneedav8 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 What is the best way to attach this type of temp sensor to a CPU or GPU to get the most accurate readings? Thanks.
General Septem Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 Just stick it in between the core and the base of the heat sink. It won't affect temps too badly... :tooth: (no seriously, don't do that lol)
Syngensmyth Posted March 1, 2007 Posted March 1, 2007 I hate those darn things and usually end up wrecking them. Best I have done is wedge them into a fin somewhere as close to the heat source as possible. It would give you a "comfort level" maybe as to the sensor/diode readings in software. If you are lucky, it could even be close. I do notice that the people who make them don't seem to have a clue either. It will be interesting to see if anyone has an answer. whovous Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I tried putting one between the HS and the CPU once. I am sure I got some real accurate temps, because the alarms went off almost instantly.
slicksickwilly Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 There pretty much useless for an acurate cpu or gpu temp.. But they work pretty good when you scotch tape them to a hard drive or your ram heatsinks..
General Septem Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Might be interesting to stick a few in a watercooling loop, to see what temperature the water is at different points.
justin131 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I stick mine to the little edge of the IHS of my CPU then mounted my infinity. Doesnt affect cooling and I get accurate readings that are identical to almost every program. (smart guardian is higher). As for the GPU... I just leave the heatsink on and slide the probe under the little space until its touching the side of GPU chip. Not quite as accurate but close.
