catkicker Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Ok Was not sure where to post this the search option failed. I needed to know how you went about useing the powerstram PSU to up the mem voltages on boards that don't have higher voltage settings for mem. maybe one of yo who have done this before could whip up a guide for this. My biggest question is will the monitoring software show the approx. voltages useing the pwerstream to increase voltage or do you use DMM and where do you measure voltage with the DMM? THunDA Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Hey man.. which board are you looking to do this with ? Are you looking for the thread that showed how to raise the 3.3v rail to get more vdimm without using the 5v jumper on the lanparties ? Edit.. Was it this thread.. http://www.diy-street.com/forum/showthread.php?t=12085
catkicker Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 THunDA Can We use the powertream on any motherboard/ non dfi to increase mem voltage? or do I have to get a ocz booster.
Thasp Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 The only bad thing about this idea is that you not only overvolt the ram, but everything else running on that rail. I'm not sure what runs on the 3.3v rail, so I can't say it'll harm anything, but I can't say it won't either.. it just doesn't seem like the best way to do it IMO.
