rigdon Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Hello all, I've been having a nightmare with my DFI Infinity NF4, and was recommended here to get some answers. Okay, having some teething problems here it would seem. The setup is as follows: Winnie 3500+ Aforementioned motherboard 2xMushkin level II 512mb PC3200 X850XT PCI-E card 250GB Maxtor SATA HDD Antec TruePower 550W PSU When I turn it on, it powers up, all the fans spin and it posts. The big "infinity" logo comes on screen, and it just hangs there. Sometimes it gets as far as the screen telling you your CPU speeds, memory capacity, what's plugged into each IDE channel etc. So, sometimes, I can get into the BIOS, but then as soon as I exit back out of it and the pc reboots, it hangs again. Any ideas? I'm not sure what it could be, since surely, if it posts, then everything is fine hardware-wise. PS: I've also tried it with an IDE HDD too, just in case it was whinging about the SATA one
Sharp Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Hello, The power supply is it a new one? What happens if you use 1 memory stick?
rigdon Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 When I tried one stick, the motherboard beeped constantly to signal a RAM error. The PSU isn't new, but it's working fine with every other setup.
Sharp Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 The memory stick is either faulty or you have plugged it into the wrong dimm slot. What happens with the other memory stick? And you must use dimm slot closest to the CPU. The reason I asked about the power supply is because over the years the ATX specification has changed. If your power supply does not have a 24pin ATX connector it may not work. Also you must plug the small 4 pin +12v P4 connector into the board. rigdon Posted January 27, 2007 Posted January 27, 2007 Thanks for the replies. It seems to be working fine now that I'm running 1x512 stick of Corsair XMS. This board can't like Mushkin Level 2 then.
