Just choose another one - don't be afraid to experiment - it'll work :-) >P.S. regarding the boot how should i configure it use Grub not lilo?my >mate says just boot from floppy every time, but that seems like hassle! And what don't you like about lilo? If you install it in MBR then during boot you'll be able to choose xp or linux.... p.s. in command prompt try #startx
BAShMaster Posted July 20, 2002 Posted July 20, 2002 if you're comfortable with XF86Configs, try running "XFree86 -configure" as root. It'll autodetect the abilities, if not make and model, of your monitor and the appropriate driver for your videocard, as well as (theoretically) your mouse. It saves the information in an XF86Config named XF86Config.new in ~. This is what I do, even when I know what my hardware is. Just one thing, though.... XFree86 -configure tends to crash certain very specific configurations. Use at your own risk.
