Nvidia SW IDE drivers for Raid, which ones?

Recommended Posts

I am building a Raid 0 Non-bootable configuration and need to install the drivers and I'm seeing alot of information about how many problems the SW IDE drivers are causing, what is the current practice? I've seen some posts from guys suggesting installing the Windows XP Raid drivers from the 6.86 Nforce chipset for NF4 mobos, does this work better?

They would be:

WinXP IDE SataRAID Driver (v6.66)

WinXP IDE SataIDE Driver (v6.66)

WinXP RAIDTOOL Application (v6.66)

Also, in the Phoenix bios under the Enable Raid IDE screen the options for Sata are:

Sata Primary

Sata Secondary

Sata 2 Primary

Sata 2 Secondary

If I want to use Sata ports 1 & 2 which of these should I enable? My guess would be Sata Primary and Sata 2 Primary? I have downclocked my system back to Optimal settings so overclocking won't be a factor.

Stumped tonight.

Thanks

Tep

You can pretty well mix and match driver sets to your hearts content. If you get a bum raid driver that doesn't work well with your disks or your nF chipset you can always uninstall those and try another.

The primary problem with the older SW IDE drivers were incompatibility with some drives and especially some optical drives.
