CalvinNHobbes Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 My mobo is a LanParty NF4-D (nonSLI) My northbridge fan went bad nad the replacement I found is taller than the original ... as a result I had to move my 6600GT to the other PCIE slot. Is there anything I need to do to make sure it runs optimally? I thought I read the other PCIe slot only runs at 2x unless you change some jumpers. Guest caffeinejunkie Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Your right just change the jumpers to sli mode and you'll get 8x on both slots.
pgaur82 Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 I *think* you have to do the hardmod to make it SLI before you can change it to 8/8 instead of 16/2 ... can anyone clarify this?
Guest caffeinejunkie Posted June 30, 2006 Posted June 30, 2006 Actually im pretty sure you dont. You see even the non-sli boards are advertised with DXG or "dual xpress graphics". Basically that means you can run two cards at the same time (not sli) so the board can be switched to sli mode all you have to do is move the jumpers. Yes, I can clarify this. There isn't any hardmod required to make both slots run at X8. All you need to do is move the jumpers over to SLi (actually dual video card) mode. The board should have come with a special tool designed specifically for that task.
