zkyzky Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Hey i have two different but similar sticks of Kingston PC3200 in my system and i am wondering what the best memory timings for them both to run well would be. The Modules are: Kingston HyperX PC3200 512MB Kingston ValueRam PC3200 512MB with HeatSpreader http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820144112 AND http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?...N82E16820141427 Any suggestions? -Zak
red930 Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 Well, your HyperX requires 2.5v for 2326 timings and the ValueRam requires 2.6v and not sure which timings it comes with. I would think either not possible to run two different memory sticks in dual channel or you'll run into problems if you bother overclocking since you'll need two of the same memory sticks in dual channel in the first place. That's why they sell 2x512 or 2x1024 memory kits for dual channel anywhere you look. I would give it a shot and see anyway...why not...but not possible from my experience with memory.....especially with these DFI boards..hehe.... Capt Proton Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 You will have to, at the very least, set the timings for the slowest memory. I think yuou are facing nothing but frustration trying to use non-matched sticks, even though your set up is not dual channel. $Bill Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 I have a total of 1GB of Patriot RAM with a stick of 512 and two 256 - PC3200 spec. The 512 was purchased recently and is rated at 2-3-2-5, while the two 256's are rated 2-2-2-5. Since installing the new 512, my system can barely play 5 minutes of a game (usually online) before the system crashes. The configuration will last the whole week on less intense tasks, like BitTorrent seeding. My rig is cooled well, and kept clean every other week. Any and all help is appreciated!
