problem setting up dvd burner on sil 3114

bios setting that are not changed

boot other devices=enabled

1st scenario:

dvd burner on sata port #3

first boot device=cdrom

second boot device=hdd

third boot device=disabled

Sil 3114 SATA Raid Control=Disabled

cd-rom boot priorty=cd burner, dvd burner

will boot from either cd or dvd

no boot disk in burner=will bypass to hdd and start windows

windows recognizes, reads and writes to both burners

No Problem

2nd scenario:

dvd burner on Sil3114 port #5

first boot device=cdrom

second boot device=hdd

third boot device=disabled

Sil 3114 SATA Raid Control=SATA

Download driver from silicon image

SiI3114 32-bit Windows IDE Driver

(Use this driver with the latest IDE BIOS to access non-RAID hard disk drives, CD-ROMs, CDRWs, DVD-ROMs, and DVD-RWs. Latest SiI3114 BIOS:5.2.16; )

I don't know if its ide driver for ide drives but its only driver that I can find on that page along with raid drives for Sil 3114. I don't know what ide has to do with sata drive.

Also downloaded driver from dfi site: WinXP-NonRAID=3114_x86_win-idvr-1205_logo (as backup)

install silicon image 1205 Driver

device manager shows SCSI and Raid Controllers=> Silicon Image SiI 3114 SATALink Controller=>under device information it lists the correct drive with all the correct information.

Reboot

Problems

will not boot from either cd or dvd

cd-rom boot priorty=c

will not bypass the cd or dvd drives and go to hdd

change first boot device to hdd

boots and runs windows

windows recognizes, reads and writes to both burners

3nd scenario:

dvd burner on Sil3114 port #5

first boot device=cdrom

second boot device=hdd

third boot device=disabled

Sil 3114 SATA Raid Control=Disabled

reboot

cd-rom boot priorty=cd burner

will boot from cd

no boot disk in burner=will bypass to hdd and start windows

windows recognizes, reads and writes to cd burner

Have done clear cmos. run memtest and prime95 with no problems

any suggestions on what I have missed on getting the cdrom priorty to read when the sil 3114 is set to sata?

Sorry about the long post but tryed to get as much information about this as I could.
