bmyhand Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 problem setting up dvd burner on sil 3114 bios setting that are not changed boot other devices=enabled 1st scenario: dvd burner on sata port #3 first boot device=cdrom second boot device=hdd third boot device=disabled Sil 3114 SATA Raid Control=Disabled cd-rom boot priorty=cd burner, dvd burner will boot from either cd or dvd no boot disk in burner=will bypass to hdd and start windows windows recognizes, reads and writes to both burners No Problem 2nd scenario: dvd burner on Sil3114 port #5 first boot device=cdrom second boot device=hdd third boot device=disabled Sil 3114 SATA Raid Control=SATA Download driver from silicon image SiI3114 32-bit Windows IDE Driver (Use this driver with the latest IDE BIOS to access non-RAID hard disk drives, CD-ROMs, CDRWs, DVD-ROMs, and DVD-RWs. Latest SiI3114 BIOS:5.2.16; ) I don't know if its ide driver for ide drives but its only driver that I can find on that page along with raid drives for Sil 3114. I don't know what ide has to do with sata drive. Also downloaded driver from dfi site: WinXP-NonRAID=3114_x86_win-idvr-1205_logo (as backup) install silicon image 1205 Driver device manager shows SCSI and Raid Controllers=> Silicon Image SiI 3114 SATALink Controller=>under device information it lists the correct drive with all the correct information. Reboot Problems will not boot from either cd or dvd cd-rom boot priorty=c will not bypass the cd or dvd drives and go to hdd change first boot device to hdd boots and runs windows windows recognizes, reads and writes to both burners 3nd scenario: dvd burner on Sil3114 port #5 first boot device=cdrom second boot device=hdd third boot device=disabled Sil 3114 SATA Raid Control=Disabled reboot cd-rom boot priorty=cd burner will boot from cd no boot disk in burner=will bypass to hdd and start windows windows recognizes, reads and writes to cd burner Have done clear cmos. run memtest and prime95 with no problems any suggestions on what I have missed on getting the cdrom priorty to read when the sil 3114 is set to sata?
