Teflon Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 I have just got a FSP Blue Storm 500W psu with a 24pin ATX connector that can split to 20 + 4. What do I lose by attaching just the 20pin and would it be better to use a 24pin to 20pin atx converter?
Guest thespin Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Are you saying you are using the FSP PSU with a 20pin mobo ? If so, just use the 20pin connection ... you lose nothing ... that's why it's designed that way ...

Fum Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 DO NOT USE the 4 pin connector you split off the 20 pin connector for the 4 pin + 12 volt P4 connector. There is a seperate line for that.
NEOAethyr Posted March 18, 2006 Posted March 18, 2006 Like fum said! coldpack, what are you thinking dude?
Garfie Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 your board is designed to use a 20 pin atx. the 4 pin placement is adjacent to the cpu. split them and plug them in. you cannot get a converter. dude, waht are u thinking of? try and use the splitted 4 from the 24 pin as your +12V rail connector? Fast Hot Rod Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Hey... it's a simple mistake guys. Don't be TOO hard on the guy... I 'ALMOST' did that very same thing... I noticed that my 20+4 connector on my new PSU could be seperated... and lookie there! A 4 pin connection right next to the PSU connector! Hell, it even FIT into the connector! Thankfully, my Spider-sense started tingling and I looked at both the DFI manual AND my PSU documentation. :eek2: Damn, did I feel like a jackazz! :shake: Mark
