kobalt Posted September 9, 2003 Posted September 9, 2003 (edited) Well i guess if you dont touch the holes that hold the thing you can dremel any part of it in the way after all it's only copper. Just be shure the base stay flat by laping it afterward. So if you do it, you'll be the one telling peeps that it can be done <_< Edited September 9, 2003 by kobalt
Judas Posted September 9, 2003 Posted September 9, 2003 I have dremeled out the space on my SLK 900u. If u hold the heatsink almost in the place where it should be, and you notice where there's contact between hs and caps/nb, mark those spots and start dremeling till the base fits the motherboard. For the nb u have to corner out 3 or 4 fins, one deeper as the other. For the little scrolls that apear where you filed the fins, use a little sharp knife. make shure any copper leftovers are completely removed from the heatsink, between fins, the base, etc.. If a little piece would be blown away afterward when the fan's on and cause a shortcut <_<
