Recommended Posts

i did have the following system:-

CPU: AMD Athlon x2 Dual Core 3800+

MOBO: DFI Lanparty NF3

RAM: TwinMos 1gig(256x4) Dual Channel DDR PC3200

GFX: Ati Radeon 9800Pro

MONITOR: Iiyama 19"

HDD: IBM 20gig + IBM 200gig

O/S: WinXP

PSU: Jeantech 400watt PSU

and now have upgraded to:-

Hiper 580w PSU

Powercolor x1800 xt

DFI Lanparty NF4 Ultra-D

everything else is the same.

some benchmarks i took for you to compare:-

my original score was:-

3dmark05 = 2659

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1190511

i now get = 7947

http://service.futuremark.com/compare?3dm05=1658361

after i updated the gfx drivers i went from 7947 to 8568!!

massive increase i say.

does that sound about right ?, was hoping to edge close to 9k at least ?

P.S. i didnt format either, windows still loaded, as it was just a different dfi board, so i just upgraded the drivers for sound, gfx etc, all working ok. Perhaps a full reinstall might work better.

Even if we don't talk about benchmarks, I would suggest that a new clean installation would be of benefit. The time spent on it now may save you from a lot of unforseen trouble later.

very true, and fully agree with KimTjik, reinstall windows, its a pretty big hardware addon/ change.

i tired overclocking the graphics card a bit and the cpu but hardly any change in performance. Can memory make a lot of difference in performance?, i got 4x 256 ddr 3200 ram made by Twinmos.

P.S will try that guide that you posted above, thanks.
