QBridge Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 The width of the case is 8". The heatsink with no fan is about 3.5" in height and the fan is 1.4" apparently. I'm not sure about the height of the fan. That comes out to about 5" of height from the bottom of the heatsink to the top of the fan. With the motherboard in the case that should add 1.5-2" in height maybe. Would a set up like that fit in that case or is the case too small? I am asking out of curiosity for now. I have no plans to buy anything. MacUser Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 bump, because i have the same concern, also anyone know if the XP-120 would interfere with the RAM in my sig cause of it's funky jagged heatspreaders...
Vulkanonistix Posted December 27, 2005 Posted December 27, 2005 I highly predict it will not interfere for the Mushkin memory. By the way, I really like the mushkin heatsink designs with jagged top (looks so stylish). Look at the picture and judge it for yourself. I don't think mushkin memories are that tall. I only think that the Corsair ones with the big diagnostic leds at the top will interfere with the XP-120. The picture here shows XP-120 mounted on top of Ultra-D: As you can see, there are still some extra clearance for any memory that doesn't have the fancy diagnostic led top. So I am guessing your mushkin would fit with just enough clearance. I highly recommend you get this XP-120 heatsink if you are also planning to overclock your memory (you obviously will with those nice sets of mushkin ram) because the way it is designed, the heatsink covers the slots 3 and 4 completely, giving sufficient airflow with a good CFM 120 mm fan. Good luck on your future build.
