S/PDIF-out settings

Recommended Posts

On my "DFI LANPARTY UT NF4-D ATX NFORCE4 MOTHERBOARD" I can set either

S/PDIF-out via ALC850

S/PDIF-out via nForce 4

Which do I want to do? I also have a Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS (if that matters?) so i dont want to use onboard sound . in bios its deactivated

The board's sound is generated by the ALC850 codec.

And the ALC850 can output sound through the SPDIF connector

*or the MCP can output sound through the SPDIF.

*The MCP does not generate any sound, it uses the ALC850 codec too.

The codec sends its data to the MCP which processes it into SPDIF output.

So both SPDIF outputs use the ALC850 codec.

:)
