  1. thanks for posting the layer mask idea. I'm trying it out now.
  2. the feather one seems to be working pretty cool. Don't know why I didn't think of it. Going to try the other one in a sec. THANKS
  3. If you'd be kind enough to check out the T.I. site for me: http://www.trapmuzik.com/ click tours. See it like fades out around the edges? Any idea how to do that? My friend says that it is a soft lay and that I should change the layer of my pic to soft light and just paint onto it with a soft brush. But it doesn't seem to work. Any ideas? THANKS
  4. Thanks galla for your help, that looks like a really cool design, different from the others. I have now sent out the design and they thought that it was really cool. Thank you very much everyone for all of your help. Here is the finished work:
  5. "i feel the majority of the work was done by the person who took the picture" I agree with you 100%, I am a terrible designer, most of my work is flash based, so when some asked me to do graphics design work, I feel that the only way I could do it was to get some excellent help which is what you guys have done and SilverFox who took the picture has done. He will be credited for his photography in the magazine, don't worry, I am not going to take credit for his great work. hardnrg, thanks very much for taking the time to submit something. I like the second one very much.
  6. I'm also very impressed with what you guys have come up with. As I said to fox, I don't want to use your work as that would feel like stealing it, but the instructions you have given have been very helpful. I think that what I am going to try and do is have the cat really light and the background really dark. I have used an elongated S shape for the levels and lots of dodging on the wiskers. This is by no means finished, I still need to make the background dark, work on the eyes and touch up the errors on the wiskers and add a blue glow effect to the wiskers as there is already a faint tint of blue in the original photo. But this is where I am at so far:
  7. Thanks very much for taking the time to put something together. Would you mind explaining the different techniques that you used in order to create it? I am guessing that you used colour dodging on the eyes, but I am not sure about what you did with the fur. Thanks.
  8. how would I go about increasing the contrast? Make the background darker?
  9. Ok, I have messed around with the colour, contrast and levels a bit and started work on dodging the wiskers to make them glow: I don't know why I said snow cat as I don't want it to look like it is in the snow, I guess its just because its winter...
  10. Hello, Thanks very much for helping me out. I am the person who has asked to use the pic. What I am trying to do is take these elements frem the devart pic: glowing blue eyes, blue glow on the rest of the body and lastly the very vibrant white wiskers. I am not going to do what they have done and make the cat contrasting light on its face and dark the rest of it. So far I have changed the colour of the eyes and the nose, by duplicating the layer, selecting the two eyes and nose, inverting the selection and deleting the selection. I then inverted the selection again so I have the eyes and nose selected and then used the colour replacement tool to make them blue. Once I had done that I applied an outer glow of the same colour and set the blending mode to colour. Sounds complex, but its not, I am not a brilliant designer, I am better at flash as you'l probably see from my website which is currently being redesigned. Here is what I have come up with so far: If any of you know how I would do those wiskers vibrant white then it would be a great help. I hope to have the wiskers really white and the background really dark. Thanks!
