Ram compatibility on motherboard

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I am about to purchase core components from Overclockers, which is:

Motherboard: Gigabyte X58 G1 Sniper (MB-321-GI)

RAM: Corsair Dominator GT 6GB (MY-279-CS)

CPU: Intel Core i7 960 3.20Ghz (Nehalem) (CP-303-IN)

Now, my question is:

Will the RAM be compatible with the motherboard? The motherboard has support for DDR3 2200/1333/1066/800 MHz memory modules, and the RAM is 2000MHz.

Thank you for all your help!

Shouldn't be an issue but why are you moving into 1336 when 1155 and 2011 sockets are here and are far newer?

Seriously start up a new build thread and we could put together a better performing i7 2600k set up on the 1155 socket that will both be better performing and cheaper with the upgrade path to ivy bridge and pci 3.0.

Ok thank you @Stonerboy779, I will do that - if it is cheaper then it will be better for me :)
