ManFromMars Posted December 26, 2001 Posted December 26, 2001 HiI turned my PC on one day and windows said.."detecting new hardware.. PCI card"; I hadn't put anything new in. I clicked cancel and looked in Device Manager - my SBLive! 1024 card had been replaced by "unknown PCI device". I tried re-installing the drivers for the SBLive! card - and but it didn't work. It has SBLive 1024 under sound controllers, but says the drivers are not working and to update them. So far I have tried: re-installing the card and drivers and card; a different PCI slot; installing the drivers first - but windows never recognises it as a sound card, just an unknown PCI device! I know the gardware isn't faulty because I dual-boot with Linux Mandrake and the sound is fine under Linux. Any ideas would be very much appreciated! Thanks, ManFromMars Watch out for flying ice-creams.
Guest flakman Posted December 27, 2001 Posted December 27, 2001 Windows is great, ain't it:( Post what version of windows you are running at the fix is different depending upon the version. But..........removing the device from the o/s while in safe mode and then removing the hardware and rebooting. There is a conflict in the registry and checking for complete removal of drivers and reboot again. I would reinstall and then point windows to the correct drivers. Don't let windows pick the drivers. Wshmaster0 Posted December 29, 2001 Posted December 29, 2001 If that don't work you can always try changing the slot of your sblive.. i have a sound blaster live value 5.1 and it wouldnt run until i switched it to the last pci slot on the mobo. Then again i'm running win2k.. so you could have different possibilities.. but try em all
Cook74 Posted April 12, 2002 Posted April 12, 2002 You may want to try going to the device manager and removing the sblive icon then rebooting. It may be that the device manager for sblive got corrupted.
