The update, which is available for immediate download from the App Store and the Google Play Store, includes a persistent player that allows viewers to watch a video while simultaneously browsing other content. The feature is quite similar to how YouTube currently offers its content, as users can even swipe away the persistent player if they want to stop watching a video. The latest update for the Twitch mobile application also brings an audio only mode to Android users, allowing them to listen to broadcasts while their device is locked or while Twitch is running in the background. The feature does need to be turned on through the video options menu, but should prove to be highly utilized by individuals who enjoy the audio side of Twitch streams.
