Hey guys, i'm in the world of editing and production.. I built a massive beast last year with an 3970x and 64gb ram, SSDs, etc. and its working out great. Now i'm in need of a new computer build solution.

I need a new system, that is essentially built for storage. It has to house around 40tb, it doesnt need a crazy high end processor, its just for storage.. it also doesnt need a high end video card or a crap ton of ram. Can anyone please suggest what sort of processor, mobo, external raid controller? that woudl house around 40tb worth of drives (guessing 10x4tb?)

One side note, in terms of back up, i don't need raid 1 backup safety, because the content that the machine would house is already backed up 2x on external hard drives.

Hope this all makes sense and i'm looking forward to the suggestions for this build.

Linux box with RAIDZ3. You'll need 13 drives for 40 TB usable. Don't enable dedup but compression would be worthwhile (and free basically) .
Tolerance is a sign of weakness.
