Busterbvi Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Greetings. I am about to start my upgrade build and I need some clarification for my fan choice. Is it best to use PWM or 3 pin fans that will go as high as 1800 rpm for the CPU heatsink and case rear exhaust and will the MOBO throttle up / down a non PWM fan as temps rise & fall ? Thanks, Buster.
jaimelmiel Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 (edited) If you Have a Motherboard like my Asus M5A99FX with 5 pwm fan Headers you can go all Pwm fans. I have a pwm on my heatsink. The rest are 3 pin on a Sunbeamtech Rheosmart 6 Fan controller. I have 2 Rigs with 6 Fans each. EuroFight Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 I generally just have one intake and exhaust fan that are just on a 5-pin molex. It makes sure there is some airflow and the fans are non PWM. The rest (CPU fan, other case fans etc.) on PWM headers to keep noise down.
