Waco Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 That's one hell of a BIOS update! I wonder why ECS released the card with half of the memory addressing disabled...
Bizzlenitch Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 I was wondering the exact same thing myself when I read the article... at first I thought I was missing something, but then I realized it really was the most awesome GPU BIOS update ever. Heh.
Bosco Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 The only thing I can come up with is cost, other then that it doesn't make sense.
Waco Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 It really makes zero sense for ECS to release the card with half of the memory addressing disabled. I can't think of a single reason it'd be viable to do so. Anyway - it doesn't matter. It's a kickass card for less than the standard price - I can't argue with that. Guest ajmatson Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Yea you guys got me too. I could not understand why either. Sure lower cost for us is great but why cut half of the memory, sell it for less, then have an update to release the remainder of the memory for free??? I mean I am not one to complain because it is a killer card and come on SLi for $280 that's a steal..... Hmmmmmm makes you wounder.
